We are thrilled to announce that The Claremont Bitcoin Club (CBC) has officially launched! Dedicated to empowering research and learning of Bitcoin and decentralized technologies, CBC brings students together who are passionate about the evolving fintech space. Supported by the resourceful Financial Economics Institute (FEI) at Claremont McKenna College, the club connects students with opportunities to engage in one of the most significant technological developments of the 21st century.
The club operates under the guidance of the FEI, joining a selective group of student organizations with direct institutional and faculty support. For CBC, Professor Dass and Professor Garin will be the faculty advisors for the club. This partnership grants access to funding and integration within CMC’s vast economics and finance network. The structure of the club is built upon a collaborative model, with Founder & President Arman Dashti ‘27, overseeing operations and vision, alongside directors for events, finance, marketing, publishing, and education.
CBC’s main events will be club meetings that will revolve around informational presentations developed by the education team. These sessions will happen once a month, providing a platform for members to learn from each other and contribute to a public space surrounding Bitcoin. Throughout the academic year, the club will host guest speakers, industry professionals, and workshops which are open to all students at the 5Cs, regardless of membership. The education team will learn and present on Bitcoin's technical and economic foundations, covering topics such as design, mining economics, scalability, privacy, regulatory factors, institutional adoption, and societal impact. As a part of the education team, members will develop presentation, research, collaboration, and public speaking skills. They will also lead Q&A portions and help moderate events. After the meetings have concluded, presentations will be uploaded onto the website at claremontbitcoin.com, for the public to view.
The club’s publishing team is divided into two research pods, each responsible for publishing academic research articles on Bitcoin. Pod A will focus on all the technical aspects of Bitcoin, including technological advancements, blockchain, security systems, and algorithmic transactions, while Pod B will investigate adoption, economic/societal implications, regulations, and broader applications of Bitcoin. Some of the topics suggested are as follows: Bitcoin as a tool for financial freedom, the public perception of Bitcoin around The Claremont Colleges, worldwide uses of Bitcoin in countries such as El Salvador, MicroStrategy and its purchases and involvement with Bitcoin, Bitcoin mining and training the grid, and the use of stablecoins and smart contracts. The publishing team emphasizes analytical rigor, data-driven analyses, and professional editorial processes. There will also be a large reading component in the publishing team, with contributors expected to read 5-10 Bitcoin-focused articles a week for research purposes. Each pod will publish one article per month. The publishing team will have their work published on the CBC website as well as social media pages.
With education and publishing teams, CBC has plans to venture into audio media as well. Hosted and produced by Founder & President Arman Dashti, the podcast plans to reach students through their headphones. Inspired by topics covered by the club’s education and publishing teams, it will reinforce topics and present additional insights, hosting faculty and student guests. The podcast will officially launch in Spring 2026.
CBC is planning interviews and media hosted by The Claremont Independent and The TSL Newspaper, sharing learnings through fellow 5C network partners. Partnerships are also formed with college Bitcoin organizations around the region, such as the UCLA Bitcoin club. Advocating for a work-hard, play-hard culture, CBC will be hosting a handful of mixers and parties, open to all. At the end of the academic year, CBC plans to attend the Annual Bitcoin Conference—a two-day event held in Las Vegas on April 27-29, taking members with them to meet and learn from the most influential figures in the Bitcoin industry. This massive event will culminate a year of progress and learning, acting as a celebration of progress and a premonition for what is to come in the following year.
Led by students and for students, the Claremont Bitcoin Club (CBC) is dedicated to educating, researching, and creating a community for Bitcoin at the 5Cs. Through its alliance with the Financial Economics Institute, diverse teams focused on education, publishing, and web development, CBC gives students incredible learning opportunities to dive into the technical, economic, and societal implications of Bitcoin. From monthly info sessions and academic research to hackathons, a podcast, and attendance at the Annual Bitcoin Conference, the Claremont Bitcoin Club dreams big and turns ambition into reality, launching a new generation of leaders building the bridge between finance and technology.
